QuikRead go CRP contributes to fulfilling antibiotic stewardship programmes
NICE issued its medtech innovation briefing (MIB) on QuikRead go CRP in September 2016. It stated that QuikRead go CRP provides rapid results with a reading time of 2 minutes and is very suitable for primary care where it would be used by GPs or nurse practitioners to help guide appropriate prescribing of antibiotics for people with lower respiratory tract infection.
The studies used as evidence in MIB reported reduced antibiotic prescribing rates compared with standard care. QuikRead go CRP also had a similar accuracy as a standard laboratory CRP test in detecting pneumonia.
