Letter from EFPIA and EPHA on antimicrobial resistance

Richard Bergström, EFPIA (European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Association) Director General, and Nina Renshaw, EPHA (European Public Health Alliance) Secretary General, have written an open letter on AMR to Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission. They urge European Union “to take decisive action with regard to the global threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), the biggest threat of the modern era to lives, health and health systems across Europe and worldwide”. According to the writers, without policy action, a post-antibiotic era could cost 10 million lives globally every year by 2050.
