Today is the day for the UN General Assembly on AMR

Today on September 21, heads of state will gather with doctors and other experts at the United Nations General Assembly for a high-level meeting on antimicrobial resistance. According to STAT the antimicrobial resistance is a long-neglected issue that poses perhaps the biggest health threat the world faces. “I’ve worked on this issue for almost 20 years. And I think even five years ago I couldn’t have guessed that this would reach the height of the UN General Assembly,” said Ramanan Laxminarayan, director of the Washington-based Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics & Policy to the STAT.
